Driving Miss Ellie
Yesterday, I spent the day with my Dad. Because of his health problems, the seven of us kids take him for an afternoon each weekend.
He lives about an hour away from our home, so I decided to take Ellie with me on the trip. She found out that she likes to ride, but only if she can sit on my shoulders while I drive. We used to have a chihuahua like that too. The difference is that Ellie certainly won’t be doing this for long!
Taking a picture with your cell phone while driving and having a dog wrapped around your neck probably isn’t the safest act in history. Kids, don’t try this at home. I am a trained professional!
Dad and I stopped at a Turkey Hill to get coffee and soda. Turkey Hill is a convenience store in Lancaster County. Ellie’s too small to leave alone, and it was too hot in the car anyway. I couldn’t send my Dad into the store by himself, so there was no choice but to carry her into the store. I figured the worst they could do was yell at me, and as long as I had my coffee first, I could handle it.
To make it short, the two ladies behind the counter wanted to pet her. The manager pet her. One of the clerks asked if she needed a drink and told me where to get a cup and some water. I guess puppies don’t get thrown out of stores.
So life goes on with the pup. Once she gets housebroken and crate trained, we’re all set.

I’m recommending for that last dog picture where she is trying to bite you.
Awww very cute! I’ve had kittens and cats that ride on my shoulders but never a dog…course from the look of your pup, she’s gonna be a big’un soon
Ubercute
This is adorable and made my night. She reminds me of my Grace :3
Our chihuahua rides like that every time we get in the car! It’s like having a furry pillow while I drive.
Simply way too cute. I don’t ever want a dog, but I would love to experience that!
Adorable!
Its a good thing you dont have a hankerin’ for great danes now isnt it!?!
I want to see her do that in about 5 months!
I especially like that last picture!
Love doggies. Ellie is real cute
Your pictures with your puppy made me smile. Thank you for that!
In June 2006, my puppy was 3 mos. old. I had just taken her to the vet and had to pick something up at Target. It was too hot to leave her in the car, so I carried her in my big purse into the store. 4 steps into the store, the manager came up to me and told me that I wasn’t allowed to bring my dog in.
Oh, well. Explains why I don’t shop too often in Target anymore.
BTW, my puppy was a shih tzu/ lhasa apso mix, and at the time, she was only 6 lbs.. Target made me leave on the account of a tiny puppy!
Absolutely adorable but I for the life of me could not imagine the distraction of a dog on my shoulders while I was driving. Not in a MILLION years!
