  • On Sunday afternoon, I was trying to prepare for our small group Bible study that was to happen that evening at church. My dear Mom stopped over to deliver my birthday card since she had been traveling and didn’t make it to church in the morning. She stayed and talked for a little while.

After that, another friend stopped by to talk to Bev and me about something else and also stayed to talk for a little bit.

After this, Dylan asked me to do something with him. I told him that I still had some things to finish. Here’s the conversation between my five year old and me:

Dad: Maybe if all these people would stop coming over, I could get finished.
Dylan: Just ignore them. That’s what I do.
Dad: But they’re coming over to see me.
Dylan: Well it’s your birthday. Duh!

Apparently I’ve got a five year old teenager at home!

  • RYC: LOL! Well, not really…At least for your son…Ouch is right. I didn’t pry into it, but I can only assume that hubby either had that happen to him when he was younger or he’s heard horror stories about it. That is definitely wisdom only a father can share. =)

    Happy belated birthday! =)

    Hugs! =)

  • With three teenaged sibs, poor Dylan didn’t stand a chance!

  • Oh yes ………..they are immaturing at a younger age now days arent they…..lol!

  • aw…thats adorable…or is it? lol

  • So smart, you must really be proud of him.

    HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!!!!!

  • I would never suggest my daughter marry on Valentine’s Day — it’s a two-fer for the guy! What was I thinking? I cheated myself out of an extra gift! D’oh!

I was 28 when I got married. How old were you?

  • A friends house, I’m sitting on a piano bench, playing the piano singing, and being goofy.

As happy as i am to have him, I suspect others are worried about his tastes in girls. Your words are a real concern of his friends and family. I have decided not to be concerned about that any longer. I’m not going to kill something I love about him, just because somewhere inside of me I want to. There are a lot of things inside of me that are self destructive. But that is what Jesus and prayer are all about, isn’t it. Just because my personal weakness (promiscuity)is considered acceptable in our culture, does not mean that I take take it lightly.

Really I am not going to blow this change. My past is not my fate. Thank you for caring.

  • No you said nothing wrong, and I meant it when i said thank you for caring, your advice was good advice. I was just trying to be reassuring that I take what you said very seriously. It is not as if I don’t worry about it myself.

Hosea? Yes but it is not fresh in my mind right now. I was once a little Bible scholar (14) but I have just started reading scripture again as of 6 months ago. I’m very rusty, but coming back up to speed. If you have anything to do with Sunday school, all that time is not wasted. I still remember an amazing amount considering my very long rebellion.

I will read that book, thank you

  • I’ve been working at Balmer Bros. farm since the summer. its a dairy farm with liek 400+ milking so its pretty big lol

  • I didn’t realize it was a MILESTONE year.  congratulations!  Don’t mourn your lost youth.  Cherish the youth you still have!!  I spent the last half of my 40′s prepping for being 50, so that I didn’t enjoy being in my 40′s.  I’m not going to make that same mistake again.

  • That is one of the better comments I’ve ever received. Thanks for your input…

  • Out of the mouth of babes…I like his advice, though. Happy Belated birthday !!
